A Guide for Visitors to St. Andrew's

Are you planning a visit to St. Andrew’s? Here’s some information that we hope will make you more comfortable.

When You Arrive

  • Parking is available in the lot located behind our church. You enter the lot from 19th St. There are also a few street parking spots available on Heights Boulevard.
  • Usher/Greeters are on hand to welcome you immediately prior to a service. They provide directions, information and distribute service bulletins. If you have any special needs, please communicate this to an Usher/Greeter so that appropriate accommodations can be made.
  • Visitor Nametags are available for your use and may be picked up as you enter the church. We ask that you wear one so that we may better assist you—you will not be embarrassed or singled out in any way.
  • Our Nursery is available to young children ages 0-3. The nursery is open on Sunday mornings from 9:30 am to noon and at other special services throughout the year. Located at the far end of the Oak Table Lobby, trained caregivers provide supervision in a wonderfully prepared Montessori environment. You may drop your child off, or stay until the child feels comfortable.
  • Christian Education for all ages takes place on Sundays at 9:30 am. An Adult Discussion group meets year-round, and Spirit Path is a great place for parents the gather while their children enjoy youth classes. Children, ages 3-9, are invited to Godly Play, and youth, ages 10 through high school, are invited to Faith Explorations. Click here to learn more about our Christian Education programs.
  • The Service Bulletin provides a guide to the service. You should receive one from an Usher/Greeter or you may pick one up on your way into the church.

During the service

  • Our Worship Services are interactive and participatory. Everything you need to participate fully can be found in the Service Bulletin or the Hymnal, which is located in your pew. Please don’t feel awkward or embarrassed if you’re not totally sure about what to do—just do what you’re comfortable with! And if you’d like help, the people near you would be happy to assist—just ask.
  • Visitor Cards can be found in each pew. We ask that you complete one and place it in the alms basin during the Offertory or give it to an Usher/Greeter when you leave. By completing a card, you will be added to our mailing list so that you can learn more about St. Andrew’s.
  • A special Children’s Liturgy, with lessons, a homily, prayers and songs, is offered during the service for those ages 3-12, At the beginning of the service, youth and leaders process to the Chapel during the Song of Praise, and return to the church at the Peace.
  • We celebrate Holy Communion at every service. Anyone who has been baptized in any faith is invited to partake in Holy Communion. If you do not wish to take Communion, but would like to receive a blessing from a priest, please cross your arms over your chest at the altar rail.

After the service

  • Please join us for Coffee & Conversation upstairs in the Parish Hall. This is an opportunity for you to ask questions and learn a little more about St. Andrew’s.
  • Pick up a Newcomer’s Bag before you leave—each bag contains additional information about the Episcopal Church, our beliefs, the ministries at St. Andrew’s and a current copy of our parish newsletter.
