Our Rector

The Reverend Barbara Lewis was installed as Rector of St. Andrew's in October 2005. Barbara was ordained to the Episcopal diaconate in 1993 and to the Episcopal priesthood in 1999 in the Diocese of Pennsylvania. Before coming to St. Andrew’s, Barbara served as Interim Rector at Grace Episcopal Church in Alvin, Texas; Associate Rector and Locum Tenens at St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church in Nassau Bay, Texas; Associate Vicar at Lord of the Streets Church in Houston; and Deacon at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Yardley, Pennsylvania. She has taught at the Diocesan school for the training of spiritual directors, and serves as a spiritual director to people from a variety of faith traditions. Before being ordained into the Episcopal priesthood, Barbara worked as a nationally certified psychoanalyst for more than 20 years.

Our Deacon

Andrea C. Conklin was born and raised in New Jersey.  A life-long Episcopalian, she left the northeast for Oklahoma City and eventually Houston. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Roanoke College, Salem Virginia. Andrea has worked as a health educator for The March of Dimes and the Rape Crisis Centers in New York, Massachusetts and Oklahoma. She has always been an active lay person serving as senior warden, school board member, lay Eucharistic visitor, lector and Community of Hope facilitator both at St. Mark’s, Houston and St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital.  She has served the Houston community by volunteering for The Christian Community Service Center in many different ministries for over 11 years. In addition to her parish ministry assignment at St. Andrew’s,  Andrea serves as a representative of the committee for the Episcopal Diocese of Texas partnership with the Anglican Diocese of Southern Malawi. Andrea was ordained to the Episcopal Diaconate in 2010.

Our Vestry

The vestry is the governing body of the church, composed of men and women elected at the annual parish meeting in January. The vestry meets approximately once a month with the rector to set policies, administer funds, and oversee the operation of the church. In addition, vestry members are assigned to committees that oversee the ministries of the church. Vestry members are elected for staggered three-year terms.

Oversees church operations and committees.

PJ Arendt-Ford, Junior Warden 

Oversees and coordinates property maintenance for the church, building and grounds 

Cher Duffin, Christian Education Chair

Oversees Christian education for adults and youth in our parish, paying particular attention to Sunday morning education, seasonal education offerings, and member participation

Steven Stewart, Stewardship Chair

Oversees the annual parish pledge drive, year-long stewardship education, time and talent surveys, and ministry recruitment

Carolyn Guscott, Parish Events Chair

Creates and organizes special parish celebrations, including festivals, recreational activities, and parties

Laurie Hardwick, Communications Co-Chair

Coordinates production of the parish newsletter and other publications, manages the church website and communicates with the media regarding church events

Teri Jo Nicholson, Communications Co-Chair

Coordinates production of the parish newsletter and other publications, manages the church website and communicates with the media regarding church events

Mary Pauline McElroy, Fundraising Chair

Coordinates all fundraising events and activities to further fund the ministries of the parish

John Stephenson, Newcomers Chair

Communicates the mission and vision to all newcomers in our parish and community and welcomes all into the life of the congregation

Marianne Haynes, Finance Chair

Oversees the financial, business and tax activities of the parish and prepares all financial reports and budgets under the supervision of the vestry and in conjunction with the treasurer
